Teaching Learning and Prof Dev Ctr Position Description
Plans and directs the overall operation of a major department (with institutional oversight) and provides leadership for staff members.
Meets ORP eligibility requirements. Under executive direction, performs highly varied administrative duties involving the use of independent
judgment and professional skills. Responsible for all employees assigned to area.
Major/Essential Functions
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive strategic plan for faculty development in collaboration with the Provost’s
Office. - Oversee TLPDC operations, including budget management, annual reports, and administrative reporting.
- Lead
initiatives related to teaching performance and professional development for faculty, chairs, and academic leaders. - Supervise
Associate and Assistant Directors, program directors, faculty fellows, and staff; provide indirect oversight of all TLPDC
personnel. - Expand and support programs such as the Learning Assistant Program, Faculty Mentorship Academy, TeMPO, and the Faculty
Excellence Institute. - Develop and implement innovative programming in response to educational shifts, including faculty wellness
initiatives, AI integration, online learning, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). - Provide consultations and
training for faculty and academic leaders, including New Faculty Orientation and The Academic Milestones Program. - Represent TTU
nationally in teaching and learning organizations; maintain scholarly engagement through research and publications. - Serve as key
personnel on grants related to teaching and learning and participate in campus-wide committees addressing faculty concerns and teaching and
learning in general.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Seven years progressively responsible management
experience required. Education beyond bachelor’s level may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.Preferred Qualifications
- A master’s degree from an accredited four-year institution.
- At least two years of
experience directing a teaching and learning center or similar unit.

Successful in This Role, Candidates should possess:
- Significant experience in faculty development, teaching and learning scholarship,
and academic leadership. - Strong record of teaching excellence at the university level and scholarly contributions in higher
education. - Evidence of successful grant writing and external funding.
- Record of attendance and active participation in
teaching and learning through leadership roles in professional organizations (e.g., POD Network). - Experience with emerging
educational technologies, including AI and online learning environments.
Pay Range
$95,500 – $124,200 –
$152,800
